Purpose of the Position

Under the close supervision of the Finance Assistant, Data Base Assistant (Billing) will be responsible to perform support tasks related to information technology systems applicable to fundraising activities in Brazil, with a strong focus on bank processing and billing.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities

1. Payments from donors processed correctly and according to the processes– Prepare all files and accompany all information streams to ensure accurate payment processes with all partners- Monitor and improve the different information streams- Maintain relations with all partners in order to streamline the payment processes- Monitor and update teams procedures- Classify and File processed donation cards and/or files

2. Increased success rates in all payment processes

– Exchange EFT files with the different banks and reconcile the database accordingly- Monitor and evaluate the bank processes and improve them where necessary- Monitor and evaluate the bank processing success rates- Report the bank processing success rates with the supervisor- Propose improvements in the processes in order to maximize the success rates in payment processing

3. Information recorded and retrieved in the Database

– Make sure that all information related to the billing of donors is duly integrated in the database- Monitor and evaluate the (payment) information in the database, reporting inconsistencies and suggesting improvements where needed- Maintain contacts with donors to check personal or financial data in order to ensure correct identification and proper payment processes

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

– Completed secondary education is required. Universiry degreeis an advantage.

Experience

– Five (5) years of working experience in operational data entry or data management, office management, operations management and administration or accounting is required.

Language

– Fluency in Portuguese and English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.

    LAC Region offers significant opportunities for Major Donors and Foundation fundraising for UNICEF. Both targets are grouped under the heading philanthropy and form together the Key influencers’ audience within UNICEF Impact Plan in the 2018-2021 growth strategy.

    Latin America & Caribbean has a very large potential for philanthropy giving:

  • High concentration of wealth in two specific hubs:

  • SaoPaulo / Rio with 31% of LAC Billionaires
  • Mexico City with 14% of LAC Billionaires
  • The philanthropy market is an intersection of Corporate philanthropy (grants from Corporate foundations or from Corporate Social Responsibility entity of companies), Family/Personal philanthropy (family foundations) and private/institutional philanthropy (foundations such as the Carlos Slim Foundation).
  • The region has unique scale opportunity given the homogenous landscape of languages
  • MAIN TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

    The Philanthropy Consultant will develop the philanthropy portfolio through fulfilling the tasks and deliverables outlined below:

  • Engage prospective major donors/foundations able to give gifts of US$250,000 upwards, with focus on prospective donors with potential above $1,000,000 yearly
  • introduce and promote UNICEF representatives and other senior leadership to relevant identified individuals to build personalized relationships with prospects and donors, resulting in solicitations of charitable gifts

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    Education:

  • Advanced university degree

  • Work Experience:

    The Head of Gender Transformative Programming and Influencing provides regional leadership in developing skills, tools and capacities in gender transformative programming in Plan offices and staff across all countries in the Region of the Americas.

    The Head of Gender Transformative Programming and Influencing, together with the Regional Director, Sub-Regional Directors and CD’s sets the influencing priorities and ensures adequate focus of the influencing agenda for the region of the Americas to achieve clear results.

    The Head of Gender Transformative Programming and Influencing will ensure that a clear vision, consistent message and coherent approach is driving momentum on for gender transformative programming to promote gender equality in all projects in the Region. This position will be responsible for leading a series of initiatives that will inspire transformative change on gender equality—across offices, amongst staff, and within programs.

    This will include providing leadership and management to a regional team of gender, programming, grants, communication and DRM (Disaster Response Management) technical specialists; all aligned with the new organizational purpose and strategy.

    The Opportunity

    Plan International has recently developed a new regional structure. The new regional structure divides country offices into sub­regions or ‘clusters’ according to geographical proximity or operating model, with each cluster reporting to a Sub­Regional Director who is accountable for overall performance and results. The region of the Americas consists of the Sub-Region of Central America and the Caribbean and the Sub-Region of the Americas. The Regional Office will focus more on strategic contribution, influencing and advocating; dedicating more resource to strengthening country office performance, with a focus on driving change that will create greater efficiency and advance children’s rights and equality for girls.

    The Head of Business Resource & Solutions role is to lead and manage a team of functional experts so that management services support the delivery of high quality programmes in all Country Offices in the region (11) plus the Regional Office itself, including during disasters. All offices in the region must be fully compliant with Plan’s strategic goals, values, policies and procedures; ensuring organisational standards are understood while mitigating risks.

    HRBS will be reporting to the Regional Director to provide oversight to the COs in the region through the Sub-Regional Directors and the country clusters, by providing timely data and strategic analysis that will ensure sound decision making around improved cost efficiencies and possible shared services.

    The role enables others to deliver results, providing oversight and risk-management of systems and processes to ensure the proper utilization of income from grants and sponsorship; effective human resource management and development; cost effective administration and logistics in the provision of ICT, legal / risk management, and security.

    Selection Criteria:

    • Post-graduate qualification, preferably PhD, in Sociology, Development Economics, Anthropology, Gender Studies. Publications in relevant fields are desirable
    • Relevant work experience in gender research and mainstreaming of at least 5 years, including fieldwork in Africa, Asia or Latin America
    • Relevant work experience of design of projects or programs and experience with complex M&E systems
    • Experience developing effective partnerships for research
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
    • Knowledge of Spanish or other languages is desirable
    • Competencies in gender analysis, preferably in the context of agricultural research or natural resource management including both qualitative and quantitative research methods;
    • Familiarity with the principles of gender mainstreaming;
