Position: Finance & Admin Assistant

Overall Description:

An international NGO is looking to recruit a finance-trained candidate to join their finance team, which will provide direct support to the organization's management team.The selected candidate will be employed on a consultancy basis and must be articulate, quick thinking, and able to tackle problems with minimal supervision.The offer is ideal for candidates who want to participate and showcase their skills in a fast-paced, operationally focused NGO environment, simultaneously developing their technical skills as well as their professional portfolio.

The post holder will provide direct support to the finance program in relation to all outlined areas below:

  • Enter financial transactions into QuickBooks
  • Analyze financial transactions and allocate them to the appropriate budget
  • Manage the petty cash accounts and operational floats
  • Develop, design, and maintain budgets in Excel and QuickBooks: this will entail the ability to analyze "Budget V Actuals" reports and identify income and expenditure trends
  • Process monthly payroll payments
  • Assist in managing all-year and end-of-project budget management
  • Provide support regarding financial information requested by donors and auditors if and when required
  • Liaise with project personnel, wether based at headquarters or deployed on mission
  • Provides guidance to staff on fiscal procedures and issues
  • Assist with all budget management activities
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned

Experience:

Required

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be a flexible team player, able to work effectively with others
  • Possess a proactive "can do" attitude, with the ability to deal with short-notice tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Work well under pressure
  • Able to treat sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality
  • Proficient computer skills, in particular MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • legally able to live and work in the EU

Education

  • internationally recognized qualifications in accounting, preferably a university degree, or extensive experience in accounting as a substitute

Work experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in junior-level financial management and providing administrative support
  • At least 2 years of experience using QuickBooks or extensive experience using similarly recognized automated accounting packages
  • Familiarity with cash handling and bank reconciliation
  • Forensic reconstruction of accounts and budgets

Languages

English is the working language: candidates must have excellent oral and written skills

Preferred

  • Experience dealing with the international community
  • experience working and engaging with NGOs
