Th**e Position**
CIAT is looking for a visiting researcher who will be part of the Applied Economics Lab team and will be based in the sub-regional office of CIAT in Managua, Nicaragua, where s/he is to perform day-to-day activities. S/he is expected to closely collaborate with local staff, CIAT partners, and the team in headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate in the design, implementation, data tabulation, data cleaning and analysis of a nationally representative survey to be implemented in Nicaragua in 2017, to estimate adoption and impact of improved bean varieties
· Contribute to report writing and prepare presentations related to the study mentioned above
· Contribute with preparation of a journal article to be submitted to an economics journal (to be determined), by leading data analysis (descriptive and econometric) and heavily contributing with article writing, using the data from the study mentioned above
· Collaborate with her/his direct supervisor on other socioeconomic studies to be implemented in the country and/or region, in specific activities depending on needs
Requirements:
· Pursuing/finishing a Master’s degree in applied economics or related field (must be enrolled during the application process)
· Strong econometric experience is a plus
· Bilingual (desired): English-Spanish
· Demonstrated ability to write technical documents in English
· Willing and able to travel to rural areas within Nicaragua, and in the region (if needed)
· Experience in implementing agricultural surveys (desired)
