Dexis is seeking an experienced Food Security Expert to provide analytical and technical services to the Monitoring & Evaluation Support for Collaborative Learning and Adapting (MESCLA) activity. The work location for this position will be Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with occasional in-country travel. This is an eight-eight (88) day position. The start date for this position is August 7th, 2017.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead six participatory workshops with peasants and other stakeholders in western Honduras to elicit their analysis of the strengths, problems, potential solutions, and principal stakeholders related to food security in their area
  • Participate in a resilience study in western Honduras led by other members of the Honduras Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) country team, an inter-office and inter-agency group managing food security and nutrition activities in the country
  • Coordinate US government interagency stakeholders for a strategic planning workshop to translate extensive analyses into a coherent GFSS country plan.
  • Assist the team organize the findings of various analyses and draft the GFSS Country Plan
  • Other tasks as needed related to information collection, compilation, drafting, and clearance/approval of the GFSS Country Plan for Honduras, including possible participation in a Washington-led VTC

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience studying, monitoring and evaluating food security in Central America
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating participatory rural appraisals and stakeholder workshops
  • Experience in Guatemala, El Salvador or Honduras is required, with experience in Honduras highly encouraged
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, time sensitive, high-quality activities and work collaboratively with other people
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is required and professional working knowledge of English
