Guatemala: Community-Based Curriculum Development Fellow

Position Overview: Mercado Global provides capacity-building workshops for our artisans in various program areas. The purpose of this internship is to further develop and finalize the community-based education curricula that are utilized in these workshops. The fellow will work with the Training Coordinators and Guatemala Programs Director to strengthen our existing curricula, to identify areas where new curriculums are needed, and to develop these new curricula in areas such as nutrition, women's health (family planning, cervical cancer, stress), hygiene, women's empowerment and leadership. The fellow will also help to identify local NGOs in Guatemala that could potentially partner with Mercado Global long-term to aid with future curriculum development and to bring medical brigades to the communities in which our partner artisans live.

Key Responsibilities in collaboration with the Training Coordinators:
-Identify where existing curricula need strengthening and implement any necessary changes
-Identify program areas where new curricula are needed and develop these curricula (curricula will be written in Spanish)
-Identify and assess local NGOs for possible partnership with Mercado Global
-Assist with evaluation development and implementation in areas such as nutrition, women's health (family planning, cervical cancer, stress), hygiene, women's empowerment and leadership.

-Proficiency in Spanish, verbal and written, is required
-Extremely organized, able to organize notes, feedback, and survey responses into a format to incorporate into curriculum changes
-Preferred knowledge or interest in at least one of the following issue areas: US Market Understanding, Financial Literacy, and Health & Nutrition
-Preferred experience in curriculum development, but not required
-Must have undergraduate degree or be currently enrolled
-Full-time commitment preferred, but part-time will be considered
-Experience working in Latin American a plus, but not required
-Enthusiasm for Mercado Global's mission
