Dexis is seeking an experienced Chief of Party to provide leadership services for an upcoming USAID/Guatemala Democracy and Governance Program. The work location for this assignment is Guatemala. This will be a long-term opportunity. The start date for this position is early 2017.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the main point of contact for the contract with USAID and government representatives by providing leadership and technical guidance to all stakeholders involved
- Leads and oversees the operations of the contract to achieve successful implementation of activities
- Leads and manages a team of expats, third-country and local nationals to meet project goals
- Oversees project’s overall key performance indicators and ensures compliance with USAID and host country regulations
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building to increase the effectiveness of public administration and financial management systems for integrated financial management and processes within key government institutions
- Improve the capacity of public institutions to responsively, equitably, and effectively fulfill their mandate; and increase civil society participation, advocacy, and oversight in government decision making
Qualifications
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in international development in the field of democracy, rights and governance
- Master’s degree in social sciences, political science, public administration or any relevant field
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the role of Chief of Party is required
- Previous experience working on USAID-funded projects and knowledge of USAID regulations
- Demonstrated experience working with and collaborating with private sector actors
- Demonstrated experience working on economic growth and competitiveness projects as well as gender and youth at risk programs
- Demonstrated municipal development and decentralization experience in Latin America (Central America preferred)
- Previous Guatemala experience is ideal. Familiarity with the Central America region is required
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required
