General function:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and under the direct supervision of Migration Health Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for performing required routine clinical tasks/procedures in connection with the health assessment, pre-departure medical procedures to ensure that identified refugees and migrants are medically fit to migrate in accordance with the medical/health requirements of the receiving countries. The incumbent will act as medical/nurse escort for refugees with medical conditions for the duration of their travel to final destinations in the US or any other countries.
Essential Functions:

Performs routine clinical tasks required by the Migration Health Coordinator during Migration Health Assessments/Pre-departure medical Procedures in particular: taking and recording medical history, measuring height and weight, visual acuity and vital signs measurements.

Verify the identity of the applicants undergoing migration health assessment/Pre-departure medical Procedures according to the standard operating procedures.

Administers prescriptions/recommendations by the Migration Health Coordinator, including application of appropriate treatment.

Prepares, installs or sterilizes medical equipment needed for medical examination.

Assist in monitoring availability of all medical consumables and supplies related to pre-departure medical activities and report it to Migration Health Coordinator.

Performs pre-departure medical procedure and administer presumptive treatment.

Perform medical/nurse escorts for cases with medical conditions as may be required and ensure escort bags is reprenished with required medications and also ensure records are up to date.

Assist as medical/nurse escort for other missions in the Northern Triangle region when required.

Assist in DNA swabbing for the DNA Unit in RSC according to schedule approved by Migration Health Coordinator.

Maintains confidentiality of information and collaborative relationship with clients, partners and health professionals.

Performs any other duties that may be assigned by from time to time.
Desirable Qualifications:

University Degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse in Public Health Council with current license to practice nursing in the country.

Minimum of 3 years work experience in Clinical Nursing.

Mature individual, able to work independently, effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds at all levels.

Capable of working under stressful and difficult conditions.

Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities.

Training and experience in Basic life support and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, TB, STDs, other communicable diseases and migration health is considered an asset.

Previous work experience with an international organization and NGOs dealing with refugees would be 2 strong advantage.

IOM functional competencies required: effective communicator, successful negotiator, creative analytical thinker, and active learner, team player and cross cultural facilitator.

Computer literate on Microsoft Office.

Fluency in English and Spanish languages.
